Vintage Collectibles: Universal Studios T-800 Lenticular Postcard

Here is another awesome lenticular postcard from Universal Studios ( showcased/reviewed another one HERE). This one also shows one of the more recognizable and absolute badass practical effect scene from Terminator 2 3D: Battle Across Time, which is teenage John Connor's encounter with a T-800 endoskeleton which tries to intercept him by smashing through a wall next to him. John and Terminator hide while the endoskeleton surveils the area with his lasersighted plasma rifle.

While not as cool as the T-1000000 postcard, mainly because the giant liquid metal monster's spider walk was quite complex and impressive as a lenticular animation, this one is also great although it's movement is much more subtle and 'gentle'. The endoskeleton movies his head, and again the animation is quite rich as I counted 9 slightly different images comprising the head movement.

On the back of the card, which was printed in 1999 like the other one, it says:

You're in the middle of an all-out cyber war. Explosions and laser fire are coming at you from all sides. And you're engulfed by a barrage of effects so lifelike you won't know where reality ends and fantasy begins. From the mind of James Cameron, Terminator 2 3D grabs hold of your senses, and then blows them all away. Consider yourself warned!
