Going back to the main focus of the blog, let's take a look at one of the earliest cover features for Terminator 2: Judgment Day in a magazine written in English. Perhaps a little bit surprising, or not, is the fact that T2 first made a (partial) cover in UK not in a general Film magazine, but a science fiction/horror specific mag, titled Fear, published in UK. While many magazines touted T2's upcoming arrival in short articles and mentions way back, Fear was the first English written one to feature a large, two page article on it, and the first one to publish a bunch of promotional photos from it, in their #29 issue from May 1991.
The article isn't just a page filler either, and is pretty interesting, although simply recounting best bits from the Press Kit, which will be repeated in many, many magazines in the future. The writer also assumes certain plot points, like that Skynet had rebuilt the Time Machine after it was said to be destroyed in the first film. Not a terrible misconception, but of course it was established that the two enemies were sent at the same time, just Reese wasn't aware of it.
An interesting thing is that while the article already mentions the T-800 being a protector this time around, and Sarah's hardened persona as well as certain plot points (like her taking on the task of preventing the future), there is absolutely no mention of the T-1000, or any villain at all. There is a photo of the T-1000, but no mention or \reference to it.
