After a long break, we're back again, and what's better to greet the readers with again than another addition to the main focus of the blog, the "Terminator library". So here we have another vintage magazine from the time when T2 Terminator 2: Judgment Day was just hitting theaters - but this magazine is very rare because it wasn't available to the general public. It was sold only to VHS retailers and rental places, and in my opinion you couldn't really tell unless you were told or read about it. It's structured just like a regular magazine with ads, reviews and articles.
The magazine is relatively thin and the articles rather brief, but augmented with color pages and movie photographs. T2 is included in, naturally, an article about ILM, and it's called its crowning achievement. The short article goes a little bit into how computer generated elements are incorporated into a film, and how far beyond anything else before T2's CG effects are.
The most interesting thing about this short article is that it's written by Paula Parisi - a well known figure to James Cameron and Titanic fans. Paula wrote an extensive and terrific book on Making of Titanic in 1998 titled Titanic and the Making of James Cameron. It followed the genesis of Titanic from its earliest seeds
Other than that there are many ads for T2 merchandise that could be found in many other magazines from this era. Ads included apparel, Collectible Cards, Pinball machine and more.
If you’re not a completist or vintage magazine collector, this one’s not for you since the article is very brief and doesn’t add anything “new”.
