Vintage Magazine Collection: Monsterland February 1985

Unfortunately, at the time The Terminator was released, the iconic magazine "Famous Monsters of Filmland" ceased to exist for a time being. If it did, the Terminator would ended up on it, because it ended up in its 80's replacement version, Monsterland.

Monsterland was created to fill the void left by the absence of the Famous Monsters of Filmland magazine, and it was created by one of the two creators of the Famous magazine himself! So the same subject, style, similar font and title is not just a cash in or rip off - Monsterland actually was the classic magazine's 80's incarnation

The Terminator got a mention on the first page of and a three page article in Monsterland's February 1985 issue. The article was fairly unique, in that it wasn't a review of the film, nor was it just a description of it or an overview. It covered Terminator's abilities, strength and weaknesses, and explained thoroughly the mythology, what is going on and why. One could say, all that is simply information from the film, but you'd be very surprised how very, very few writers in articles at the time got everything right.

The article, written by Bob Strauss, is also written with a twist, in a slight humorous way. The writer pretends that what he writes is the uncovered truth about Arnold Schwarzenegger and ends the writeup with "I have to be going now. I think I hear my Mother calling" if you get the joke

The photos are fine, it's a mix of the usual ones posted in most of the other magazines of the time, and some used in Japanese and Cinefex magazine only. There's also a very rare photo of the Terminator surveying his eye damage in the mirror
