For a magazine that has been antagonizing James Cameron since the very beginning of his career, fed Harlan Ellison material to sue him and bashed T2 to bits before it even came out calling it a sellout and a family film, it's good to see that for some reason the magazine came around when T2 3D: Battle Across Time was hitting the Universal theaters. Cinefantastique's November 1996 issue contains three large multipage articles on T2 3D BAT, and I must say, it's very well written and interesting article, certainly best one concerning BAT (sans Cinefex) even though it has been very well covered by the likes of Starlog and Cinescape (All those photographed and reviewed before, click on the T2 3D: Battle Across Time tag).
The photos they chose are excellent, how they used them in layouts and of course, the actual information in the articles. How many of you knew that close to the completion of the project, Universal got cold feet thinking the plot of BAT may be too hard to follow for the viewers and ordered tests screenings before its completion to decide whether to finish it? Or that Cameron's first rewrite had a climatic battle between the T-800 and the T-1000 on the tail of a flying Hunter Killer?!
There's plenty of very interesting details regarding production, not even mentioned in other publications, such as the subject of wardrobe design for example, so it's loaded with interesting trivia. Naturally, like every single publication at the time, T2 3D is described as nothing else than the "next installment of the Terminator saga" and a "mini-sequel", a fact that has been buried ever since the rights have been bought up in the turn of the next century (more on it HERE).
Other 2 articles talk about the training for the live actors and shooting in 3D
