Vintage Magazine Collection: Prevue Magazine October 1991

October 1991 issue of Prevue magazine brings us a great interview with both Linda Hamilton and Arnold Schwarzenegger. This is what I enjoy the most about digging into vintage press, the now obscure and forgotten interviews with the cast and crew of Terminator 2: Judgment Day. This was obviously published few months after the movie premiered, but it was also conducted after the movie was in theaters which is apparent from both interviews.

The part with Linda is great, and you can always learn something new from those now obscure interviews, like that on the first film the producers told Cameron that if he shoots one more future scene they're shutting down the film immediately. She also talks about trying to lose the militaristic state of mind, regaining a more feminine physique and really lots more. This is a really, really good interview. She says she actually didn't rewatch the first film before shooting the sequel, but did so by the end of the shoot only to discover she doesn't like her performance in it. She talks about how hard it was not only physically, but mentally to portray Sarah in T2, and singles out the scene at Dyson's as the hardest, due to the way the scene was shot (as described in a different magazine, she had to act this emotionally charged scene without the other actors actually there). She ends the interview saying "After T2, I don't think anything can hurt me"

The Arnold part is written only by Arnold himself. It's like a prolonged introduction to a book about the film, looking back at the immense pressure and what was described as a generally stressing and unpleasant experience for many, but not to himself. He also talks about the dual nature of Jim Cameron and straightens out the rumors about him getting a jet as a part of his payment - he only asked one of the execs for advice on a purchase (most likely Mario Kassar). Arnold also praises Linda a lot for her dedication and transformation for the role, and Eddie Furlong.

Really glad I found this issue, this is exactly what I love in those old magazines
