Terminator 2: Judgment Day premiered in UK on August 16, so we're moving on to UK now. UK's Starburst magazine is something I can always retroactively count on. Whenever I manage to find the Terminator related Starburst magazines online, I really look forward to getting them more than most others because I know they will have something interesting or even something about the movie that I didn't know before, So is the case with this one.
Starburst #156, published in August of 1991, goes on the set of T2 which is always terrific - it's like an obscure report from the making of the film. This publication tells the story about the time they were on the set of T2, most specifically at the Fontana steel mill location, witnessing shooting the Cryoco truck rolling into the mill. As the article explains, the location had been used in many different movies before, from Nightmare on Elm Street to Black Rain.
The article tells a story of how Jim Cameron directs and deals with extras on the set who are trying to get a camera time and spotlight for themselves, rather than working and benefitting the film. Cameron's referred to as a "screamer"
I just wish they could have taken at least one photo. The whole article doesn't have any photo from the visit, which is really a pity. Still, relatively brief but great on-set article. And the captions under photos also correctly identify Arnold Schwarzenegger's Terminator as T-800.
