Vintage Magazine Collection: Ironman Magazine August 1991

While most vintage magazines are an absolute treat and often have some golden nuggets, the bodybuilding Ironman magazine from August of 1991 featuring Terminator 2: Judgment Day is a huge disappointment if you're looking for any kind of writeup, because in this regard, it is probably the laziest cash in I've ever seen in a magazine.

Yes, most of the bodybuilding magazines never focused much on the movie and what they featured were more or less glorified, glossed over ad for the film, but this one takes the cake

The T-800 graces the cover along with big slogans such as "He's Back!" and a sign informing the readers that the issue includes a Special 8-page Section on Arnold's Latest Action Adventure!

Looks like a no brainer for any T2 fan. So the super special 8 page section is just half a page very brief text and common photos (except for one). And let me go into a bigger details here. The writeup isn't really a writeup, it's just a basic synopsis of the film, and that's all the written text we get.

The rest of the "section" is all photos, either full or half page, and except for one photo of the T-800 in the garage, it contains photos that were widely printed and common even then. Some of course even flipped horizontally.

It's as if the section was created just to get over it and fulfill the obligation and a promise of the cover. Then again, what else to expect from a body building magazine - they're not film magazines so they don't focus on the story, making of the film or anything - they're usually just a commercial for the film (aside from few), but for a magazine with a full cover on T2, you'd expect more. I guess having the photos in bigger resolution blown to a full or half a page is nice, and that one rare photo is a treat.
