Both of these figures have been released before, but never as a two-pack and never in such mind blowing collectible packaging. This particular figure of Sarah Connor has been issued by Neca in 2015 as T2 Ultimate Sarah Connor. I always thought this figure looks great, apart from the head with the loose hair. T2 John Connor was released only as an exclusive for San Diego Comic Con in 2019.
In 2020 Target has released both figures in one package, but the reissue was anything but a lazy cash in. The package is great, its an art box closed with a help of a velcro piece, and the artwork on it is just mind blowing.
The artwork itself made Terminator fans scuttle around and travel to different Target stores looking for one. To prove a point even further, the empty boxes alone are being sold on eBay for not that cheap. I don't know how many were made, but I know from experience and from many other T fans that this was not easy to find. I was not successful, and my item comes from eBay. The prices are usually between $70-90 as of this point. I usually collect vintage stuff, but this is one of the exceptions I had to have
The artwork was done by Devon Whitehead, who's an artist for a company called Cavity Colors that produces T-shorts with original artworks, and most of them are just as good as his rendition of the T2 action. I'm as crazy about the artwork as any other fan. Not only the likeness and rendition is spot on, but the original composition and striking poses, along with the colors are something truly exceptional. It's the best Terminator-related packaging by far, in my opinion at least, and one of the best merchandise packaging artworks period.
Great to see T2 being so well represented still in 2020. It's a good product enclosed in an outstanding, eye catching artwork. Great work
