Starlog #170 from September 1991 is one of the best Terminator 2: Judgment Day magazines ever. It's loaded with T2 content, and a great one to that. It doesn't have one but two large feature articles on T2. The first one is an interview with James Cameron himself, conducted in between setups during the filming, and done by, of course, Marc Shapiro. Cameron talks about how hard making the film is, and that T2 is right behind The Abyss in terms of difficult production. He says something very interesting here, which is that if Linda Hamilton wouldn't agree to do the film, he had a way to work around her character. It's interesting how different the story would have been. He did tell Carolco though, that he won't write a script until a deal is made with her, a similar tactic he used for Aliens.
Asked about a third film, Cameron reiterates what he and everyone involved (other than Arnold) kept saying since the early press, is that this movie is the end of the saga. James Cameron: "I'm not really interested in doing [a third film]. Terminator 2 brings the story full circle and ends. And I think ending it at this point is a good idea".
The second article, written of course by Marc Shapiro as well, is an excellent spotlight on the T-1000. It's an in depth interview with Robert Patrick, who describes his character and the prep he did for it, plus more. He talks about how hard it was to do the ILM shots, and that he's confident that he won't be just an Arnold clone. Even before the actual training for the movie began, he was training on his won with a friend of his, and even camped out under the stars observing insects and nature. Shapiro notices that Patrick is very humble and enthusiastic. The great interview is augmented with fantastic photos not printed anywhere else before, and a lot of them are still considered rare.
There's also a mass of T2 advertisement in this issue: full pages for cards, jacket, phone line contest, clothing and more
